| Sheila asked me to model at the Sisterlocks Regional Conference
which was hosted by Everette's Cornrows & Braiding Academy in April
2001. I have never done anything like this before; and needless
to say, I was scared to death.
We had a practice session where the group of us practiced the routines that Sheila 'choreographed' for us. We were all dressed in jeans and tired from the day's work, and none of us had the energy to put everything into the practice session. Sheila kept saying "Bring out the diva. I want to see the diva in you! Let yo diva out!" As tired as we were, it just wasn't in us that night. We just walked through the routines and tried not to step on each other's feet; but we promised her we'd be perfect for showtime. I even went home and practiced to make sure I didn't turn left when I was supposed to be turning right. :-) Come Saturday at the conference, Delores Smith from Oils by John
(810-327-6438) got with each of us to advise us on how to show off her
beautiful creations to their fullest. Believe me... in these beautiful
pieces of art, it wasn't difficult at all to "show off". The clothing was
designed by Delores, and the artwork was done by John Smith. Amazing stuff!
I sure hope I did it justice!
